Okay, so our basement family room has been finished now for about nine months, but I've been so busy with taking care of the littles that I kind of forgot about taking pictures of the finished product! So, today, while Ari took a good afternoon nap Maris and I tidied up and took some pictures. Not pictured in any of the photos is Maris in her ExerSaucer....we shuffled her around so that she was always behind the camera! Source list at bottom of post.
First off, we totally ripped out all the finishings from the old family room and put in new drywall, ceiling, flooring, lighting and a new, much larger, window. We painted the walls a light, bright colour to make sure the room didn't feel dark and dingy like it used to.
One end of the family room is a dedicated TV/lounging area with a new sectional sofa, rug and bookcases for ample storage.
I loved choosing new art and pillows for the room. Blue and green are my favourite colours, and are worked into the room all over with accessories. We absolutely love our new space. We are using this area every day...so worth the change!
Another thing the family room needed was a small area to house my crafting supplies (since I had to give up both of the spare room closets after our children filled them up!). A vintage table and some affordable storage units keep my things tidy and at hand.
I have already shared our playroom on the blog, but here are a few updated photos. Ari absolutely loves his play area and it really, really helps keep a lot of the toy clutter out of the main floor. The kids have so much space here to play!
As you may remember from my 'before' post on this project, the room is very long (in fact, the entire length of our house), so it was essential to divide the space into several functional areas within one room. I feel that we have been successful in this project and we are loving the additional living space for our growing family!
