Ari's Big Boy Room Tour

With the new baby set to arrive in the next week or two, we've been busy moving Ari into his new 'big boy' room!  I still love the nursery I decorated for Ari as a baby, so nothing has changed in there, other than moving some of Ari's personal belongings into his new room.  He has been sleeping in his new bed for about three weeks now and the transition has been fairly smooth, thank goodness!  A source list for this room is at the bottom of this post.
The furniture in his new room is mostly vintage.  I used to use the bed, night table and chest of drawers in my own 'dorm' room when I first moved out of my parents' house!  The bed was already painted blue, and the night table was painted yellow.  I purchased new bedding, which was such a hard choice as there are so many great children's designs out there!
Two of my favourite finds for Ari's room are the vintage school desk and the truck shelf, which are perfect for displaying some special toys, stuffed animals and holding his puzzles in the seat of the desk.
The one new piece of furniture that we purchased was the toy storage unit from IKEA.  It really helps contain the mess of toys in one place.  The great thing about this room is that it is a lot larger than the nursery, so he has plenty of floor space to play in here.
I love the overall vintage feel of his room - and he seems to love it too.  We spend a lot of time sitting on the floor playing and reading his current favourite book, Goodnight Moon, in bed.  Truly a room that he can grow up in!

Source List:

Wall Colour: Expressions Gallery 4D1-01 Breezy Fern (Rona)

Bed, night table, chest of drawers, school desk: vintage finds and/or handed down (the drawers belonged to my great grandmother, were used by my mother as a child, by me, and now by Ari!)

Toy unit: IKEA Trofast system

Dots quilt cover and turquoise throw pillow: Aura Home

Whale blanket: Woolf With Me

Truck shelf: Pillowfort for Target

Curtains, photo ledge: IKEA

Fabric pennants, artwork: Etsy

Green lamp, star light, globe: my own from other areas of the house

Please ask if you want to know where anything else in the room is from.  What I loved about putting together this room is that I actually purchased very few new things -- most of the room came together from pieces of furniture that we already had saved in storage.  A few new decor pieces made it the perfect, personalized space for Ari.
