Winter Project

With baby #2 on the way and Ari's toys spilling out of everywhere on our main floor, the time has come to transform our basement into a fresh, usable family space.  After years of dreaming of this renovation, the work finally started this morning!  I was very excited to come home from work and see the demolition progress -- nearly everything has already been ripped out.  We are well on our way to a modern, bright family room.

The before picture:

The room is 10 feet by 38 feet.  Long and narrow!  It will be divided up into three areas: play, craft and media.  This is a list of what we're planning on doing in the room:
  • Change the wood paneled walls into drywall
  • Drywall the ceiling
  • New wood-look vinyl plank flooring (good-bye ugly rugs!)
  • New carpet on the stairs
  • Change the mismatched lighting fixtures into recessed ceiling lighting throughout the room
  • Replace the window with a larger one to add light
I look forward to sharing the reveal of the new room once it is finished!
