In the Garden: Hot + Dry in Mid-August

It's hard to believe that we are already in mid-August!  We have had incredibly hot and dry weather the last few weeks, and my lawn and gardens are definitely suffering from it (and it didn't help that we were gone for five days during this time).  I spent this weekend pulling out my cucumbers and lettuce, which were totally spent, and giving my flower pots a good 'haircut' to trim the scraggly bits.  Some things are still looking great, however, such as my African daisies, hydrangeas, Mandevilla vine and cherry tomatoes.  We are crossing our fingers for some rain in the near future!
