Each year I like to make a handmade gift for the women in my family...we even have a tradition of a handmade gift exchange between the women on my husband's side! This year I was inspired by the beautiful selection of fat quarter fabrics I had purchased during the summer and were sitting in my craft closet. These fabrics were begging to be made into something pretty to be given away!
I found this easy sewing tutorial for quilted pot holders on Pinterest. The first few hot pads I did quilt as per the tutorial, but I decided that I liked the pads better without the quilting (they got very thin with the added stitching). 18 hot pads later and I love the results with mismatched fabric...plus they are totally practical with the insulated batting layered inside. The women in my family loved their gifts!
Full sewing instructions here. Each fat quarter made two complete pot holders.
