In the Garden: Raised Beds

I managed to finish planting my garden this past weekend.  The temperature was incredibly hot, so it was slow going with lots of water breaks, but it got done!  Now to sit back and watch it grow - with a little TLC, of course.

I always make room for a cutting garden so that I can make bouquets for my house all summer long.  I planted my favourites: snapdragons, zinnias and cosmos.  In the back of the photo are some cucumbers and the trellis support my hubby built for me last year. I planted lettuce seeds underneath so they get some shade when the cucumbers grow over the trellis.

My other raised bed is totally devoted to herbs and veggies.  The garden is small, so I only have a few basics to supply the two of us.  I planted: heirloom tomatoes, zucchini, butternut squash, jalapeno peppers, basil, rosemary and parsley.

I also dotted the garden with these two varieties of pansies that I couldn't leave at the greenhouse.

I hope this year's garden will be as successful as last year!
