Handmade Holiday Shopping Challenge

The Canadian + Handmade handmade holiday challenge

I'm going to try it out! I love supporting handmade, and always feel that handmade gifts are more thoughtful and unique than mass-produced mall bling.

Here are the challenge rules/guidelines to follow:

1. Buy handmade, and Canadian if at all possible. Ten Thousand Villages is okay, since their merchandise is handmade!
2. One exception: books, which may be purchased from an independent retailer (no Chapters or Amazon!) --I would say local, independent retailers are okay because you are supporting local small businesses
3. Gift certificates are okay, as long as they are for an “experience” gift – ie. a round of golf, tennis lessons, spa day, a flight across the Rockies! www.trythat.ca is a fun site with lots of choices for Canadians.
4. Make some of the gifts myself

I am over half-way finished my holiday shopping (I know...how am I so on the ball this year??!) and so far everything is handmade, by me or another creative set of hands.

Happy holiday shopping!
