Ari's Digging Spot

We've had the Little Tikes turtle sandbox for Ari since he was a baby, but this professional digger needs a much larger space for his machinery and play!  We have gathered some inspiration from Pinterest for a natural digging play area that is perfect for boys and their trucks....

Ari is SUPER excited about this project.  We worked together this week to move the canoe away from the house.  The grass was pretty much dead in this spot anyway, so it felt like a natural place to build a digging area.  Ari and I had fun carrying logs from our wood pile and making a starter perimeter for our play area -- we've actually changed it slightly since taking this picture.
Next we want to lay down some landscaping fabric to keep the weeds out and then bring in some loads of sand and rocks to fill the space!  I will share some pictures of the finished play area once it is complete.

How to be a Wildflower

I came upon the most magical little book this weekend.  It transports me back to the magical, slow, summer days of my youth spent daydreaming in the grass.  The book is called, How to be a Wildflower: a field guide, written by artist Katie Daisy.  I found it at the most exquisite little boutique in Winkler called the Clay Owl Boutique, but you can also find through major booksellers, or order a signed copy through Katie's website or Etsy shop!
The book is full of Katie's art, natural history, quotes and to do and make lists, such as strawberry pie, what to take on a hike, and places to wander and explore.
I look forward to getting lost in this book and the daydreams I share with the author.  To wander, to gather, to savour, to ponder.  Truly a book to treasure for always.
(Even the video trailer for the book is magical.)

Playroom Inspiration

We are planning a renovation of our basement within the next year.  This will be a combination family/craft/play room, since it's such a loooong space!  I have been collecting inspiration for the play area of the room on Pinterest and thought I would share a few of my favourite pins with you today.

Play teepee, toy storage bags, black & white // Tellkiddo

IKEA kid's easel, painted to match room decor // Mommo Design

IKEA toy storage with built in desk, washi tape buildings, playful word banner // Mommo Design

Painted thrift store picture frames for displaying art // Brit + Co

Organization for craft supplies, colouring wallpaper (although, I will never hang wallpaper again!) // Dot Coms for Moms

There are many more ideas I like, but I only wanted to share a few favourites.  It's always so much fun planning out a new space in the house!

Window Box Decisions

I'm torn.  I love both of these inspiration ideas for my window boxes this year!  Should I go with...

Thoughts?  Good thing I still have another month or so to think about it!
