We have been having sweltering temperatures here over the last two weeks - in fact, we are under a heat advisory! I love warm weather, but this kind of heat has me staying indoors in the air conditioning far more than I'd like. Of course with these temperatures my gardens and containers are taking a beating and have been requiring a lot of extra watering attention.
I try to water in the morning or evening to avoid the direct sun of the afternoon. Way back in biology class I remember learning that plants close their 'pores' during the hottest part of the day in order to conserve water, and therefore will not take any water in if you try to water at that time!
