A Case of Garden Envy

I am slightly obsessed with the beautiful photographs captured over and over again by Floret Flower Farms. Can you believe this field of zinnias?! Unreal. I would love for that to be my office. The flower farm is even featured in this month's Country Living magazine; how exciting for them!

Natural Garden Tour

This past weekend I had the opportunity to take in the Natural Garden Tour hosted by Nature Manitoba. The tour was self-guided through eight private gardens in the Whyte Ridge area of Winnipeg. There were so many beautiful ideas for inspiration in each garden...I couldn't help but take a few photographs to remember it all!

My favourite combination (and garden of the tour), purple, green and burgundy. A stunning garden with beautiful shrubs, well planned containers, creative art and an organized potting area!

This was my first time going on a garden tour and it was so much fun (even in the extreme heat). I found so much inspiration and enjoyed the invitation to peak into other gardener's backyards. What a treat!

Spring dreams on a blizzard day.

Garden tour - Pettifers.

Pettifers is a garden located in the United Kingdom in the North Oxfordshire countryside.

The two gardeners moved here in 1984, when the 1 1/2 acre garden was a blank canvas. They started with shrubs and roses, then began filling in with a variety of grasses and other flowers as they became more comfortable with landscaping.

The garden is open to tours by appointment only. Visit their website for more information.

Portland International Rose Test Garden.

Another highlight of our recent Portland trip was walking through the rose gardens.

We could literally smell the roses well before we reached the garden! I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the garden and the beauty of the roses (normally I am not a big rose person). Every colour imaginable was in the garden, and many of the rose bushes were as tall as me!

The garden also offered a nice view of the city of Portland, as it was situated on a hill overlooking the downtown. Not only a gorgeous place to walk through, but it is free as well. Definitely a must-see if you visit Portland!

The coral roses in the first photo were my favourite colour :)

Portland Japanese Gardens.

One of the stunning places we visited on our recent trip to Oregon were the Japanese Gardens in Portland. These gardens cover 5.5 acres and are beautifully landscaped. They proclaim to be the most authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan!

This was a beautiful place and I would recommend a visit if you are ever in the Portland area!

Backyard retreat.

Spotted this little Oregon backyard garden shed / cabin at Apartment Therapy.

I'd love to have a structure like this in my backyard for gardening and campouts!

Pothole Guerilla Gardening.

If you haven't already seen this - this is a really cool little project.

A new form of 'guerilla gardening' in London has an anonymous gardner filling unsightly potholes with tiny, magical gardens. I'd love to stumble upon one of these little wonders!

Old piano garden feature.

I came across this old, repurposed piano water feature on Pinterest this morning and thought it was so unique! I'm curious to know if the water causes the piano to play music when it flows through...the link doesn't seem to lead to more information on this idea. It's lovely, though!

Countdown to Spring.

Yesterday we stopped in at our city's indoor conservatory to enjoy a little bit of warm, tropical air. The conservatory had beautiful orchids growing near a water feature (with a fat little goldfish swimming around!), and was planted with oodles of bright spring colour. Beautiful daffodils filled the space, and even the trees were beginning to blossom under the dome!
