I picked the first round of snapdragons and zinnias from my garden this week, and love how they look in my little ceramic creamer containers!  The colourful creamer was bought in Mexico this past winter and the blue and white creamer was a thrift store find.

Tips for Better Homegrown Bouquets

Apartment Therapy shared their top six tips for making better homegrown garden bouquets.  I LOVE making bouquets with flowers from my garden.  My favourite tip is to add greens into your bouquet - my go-to green is hosta leaves.  They really turn your bouquet up a notch!

Make it Monday: Floral Bicycle Handlebars

 

Spring brings sunshine, and with that comes bikes, dusted off from winter storage and ready to ride.  This DIY idea from Lovely Indeed adds a little extra charm to your bike -- who wouldn't be happy riding a bike decorated with fresh flowers?  I love frilly peonies...mine are generally in full bloom in June.  Perhaps an idea to try for a special occasion?  I could see this being a stunning prop for a wedding or other occasion photo shoot!

This Week's Flowers + Life Lately

I hope everyone had a great long weekend!  I kept things fairly low-key over here.  With baby due in three weeks I am preferring to stay close to home!  Some important things got accomplished this weekend, however:

• Wallpaper was hung in the nursery
• Nursery rug was shampooed
• Hospital bag got packed
• Car seat got installed
• I finally got around to writing what I can in my baby book

And, of course many other small things got finished too.  With the wallpaper and rug done I am now working on decorating the nursery and cannot wait to share pictures of the finished room!

I also picked a few bouquets of bright and cheery flowers from the garden to have in the house.  Always loving my zinnias, cosmos and snapdragons!

I used fresh cuttings from my zinnias, cosmos, snapdragons and a little bit of hosta for greenery.

I love creating bouquets of flowers from my garden to bring inside the house.

Today's bouquet is entirely from my perennial garden and features:

I visited one of my favourite local nurseries today to find all the perennials 20% off.

I purchased a beautiful clematis, some more red fox veronica (LOVE this plant), and a double cranesbill to fill in some empty spaces. Love finding great deals!

Lucinda Williams live last night. Such a rockin' lady!

Tasting

Sooo much good food. Both on our NYC trip and at the festival yesterday!
