Don't forget the birds.

Canadian Gardening has a feature article on what to feed the birds in your backyard. If you're lucky to have Cardinals, they like black oil sunflower seeds. We mainly have lots of varieties of sparrows, with the glimpse of an occasional Blue Jay (they like to eat black oil sunflower seeds too). I'd like to make one of these as a treat for the birds to keep them coming back to our yard!

Hummingbird

This morning I was tending my plants when all of the sudden a loud buzz came by me and hovered close by. To my amazement a most beautiful little blue-green hummingbird was flitting about my flowers in a container just two feet away from where I was standing. The little bird flew from flower to flower drinking nectar while I held my breath, absolutely captivated, and wishing I had my camera with me. The moment was over in a flash, when Kingston, our cat, noticed the little bird and ran towards us, scaring the hummingbird away. Sometimes it's the little things that bring joy to the day.
