Make it Monday: GROW Garden Sign

You may remember my first attempt at this project two years ago, which didn't go the way I wanted.  Last year I was too pregnant to handle paint, but this year I had a huge brain wave come over me that I knew would work (and it did)!  I am completely excited about how my new GROW sign turned out for my garden.  Here's a quick tutorial on how I made my sign this time:

Supplies:

Plates with a pattern (I wanted vintage floral plates, but couldn't find any hunting in thrift stores, so I bought inexpensive patterned melamine patio plates)
Large letter stickers, I found these at Michael's Craft Store
Spray paint, I like using Krylon as it sticks to just about any surface!
Thrift store picture frames, I still had these from my first try at the project

Tutorial:
  1. Gather supplies
  2. Stick letters down on plates, making sure to center them.  Stick them down well so that the paint won't bleed underneath the sticker.
  3. Spray plates and picture frames with paint as per directions on the spray can.  Let dry.  Carefully peel off the stickers for a reverse look.
  4. The finished plates...amazing!!  I love how the blue and turquoise letters pop off the black background.  The frames were painted blue to match the plates.

A bright and cheery new look to the old wood garden fence.  This was a VERY quick project.  I completed the entire thing from start to finish during one of Ari's afternoon naps.  Enjoy, and please share if you try this project yourself!
