Hello! We are back from the most wonderful family city getaway in Vancouver, BC. If you follow my Instagram account you probably already know how awesome our time was, but I will share a few highlights of our week in this post. The photo above was taken from the balcony of our rented condo (Airbnb.com)...isn't it the most amazing view??!! Lovely during the daytime...even more pretty to watch during those nighttime feedings. I will miss the view of city skyscraper lights so much.
Our week was jam packed with activities! On Day 1 we visited Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium with my sister and her baby. Let me tell you...babies LOVE watching fish. So worth the steep entrance fee (for adults, babies are free). The park was also lovely to walk through with so many spring flowers blooming and the bustle of people getting outside. Day 2 was a rest day for Ari; he was so tired from the traveling and first busy day! We took a long walk around the neighbourhood admiring character homes, beautiful gardens and street art filled with wise words while drinking some much needed coffee.
On Day 3 we went on a food truck tour with Vancouver Foodie Tours, which is supposedly the "world's best" food truck tour! Ari was treated with his first grilled cheese sandwich compliments of Mom's Grilled Cheese Truck...obviously he is in love. Following the tour we headed to North Vancouver to Maplewood Farm where Ari could play with the goats and pet so many other farm animals...a great place for kids who love animals!
Day 4 was spent on Granville Island. I always love visiting this attraction! The market has great food, the street entertainment is lively, and people watching by the water is so relaxing. Also, there is great shopping to be had (also on Robson Street, don't ask how many $$$ were left there). The weather was so nice that we also lazed on the English Bay Beach at dinner time and let Ari play in the sand for his first time.
We traveled to my sister's house in Surrey on Day 5 and spent the day playing with toys and hanging out visiting. I think that was Ari's very favourite day of all - he got to play with his cousin all afternoon!
I spent the last day at a Maker's Market pop up shop (featuring VonBon, Whistle and Flute and many other Vancouver baby entrepreneurs), followed with brunch with my sister and cousins who also live in Vancouver. It was great to catch up! I picked up some macarons at Sweet Bake Shop on the way home...so fresh and full of flavour...wow! We rented bikes and a chariot and cycled the Sea Wall in the afternoon. Ari was not a fan of sitting in the chariot, but he did love the stops along the way: picking flowers in the grass, a spray park and Third Beach for more sand play.
It was a fabulous week in Vancouver - I have visited this city so many times and I still love coming back. This time I enjoyed introducing my son to everything the city has to offer - it really is a family friendly place for all ages. Although I don't like it that my sister lives so far away, I am thankful that she lives in such an awesome city for frequent visits :)
