Tis the Season to Plant Bulbs

 

Tis the season to be planting holiday bulbs!

I picked up my annual amaryllis and paperwhites at my grocery store - they are sold pretty much everywhere this time of the year - because you have to plant them now if you want blooms by Christmas!

I like to force the paperwhites in a glass vase with marbles at the bottom, rather than in soil.  You just need to keep the water level to the top of the marbles, but not too high so that the bulbs rot.

I always love this bright red pot from IKEA for my amaryllis.
