We set up our Christmas tree this past weekend. I always love that event...it is such a big part of my personal holiday tradition and memories...my husband even proposed to me while we decorated the tree two years ago!
We put up my old artificial tree again this year. With a new cat in the house (who tore down my sister's tree in, um, about two days last year), we thought we wouldn't invest in a real tree that might not last very long.
If you're into shopping for real Christmas trees, Canadian Gardening has an excellent post on how to choose the perfect tree and care for it during the season. I remember one year going to a Christmas tree farm with my dad and sisters. We trudged through the snow and picked out a tree from the orchard (? not sure if its called that), cut it down and brought it home. I think that evening was made more memorable because we also picked out a new siamese kitten on that same trip, Kibbles, who became a memorable family pet.
At any rate, it's been about four days since we put up the tree and Kingston has only broken one ornament....looks like it may be safe to think about investing in a proper tree next year!
