I am finally getting our New York photos together, and since there are SO many
I thought I'd put together a few smaller posts featuring one highlight of our vacation at a time.
Today's post is on the High Line Park.
The High Line is an old, raised railway track that runs through Manhattan's West side, starting at Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District up to West 30th Street. It was originally used to transport animals to the Meatpacking District, but had been sitting abandoned for years until the city decided to transform the line into a beautiful parkway that only opened to the public in the summer of 2009.
The parkway, which is mainly a walking path with plenty of pretty spots to rest and enjoy the city views, is lined with beautiful native plants such as purple coneflowers and black eyed susans.
Parts of the walkway feature running water that is so calming,
not to mention refreshing on hot, tired feet!
A beautiful public space.
Bravo to New York for taking something neglected and
turning it into something so beautiful for everyone to enjoy for years to come.
My outfit (because some people like to know):
Top: Joe Fresh
Capris: Club Monaco
Shoes: Toms
Bag: Urban Outfitters
